Chapter 2
This chapter focuses on helping the student to reflect on why one should choose teaching as a profession. The part in this chapter that caught my eye the was learning how to create a philosophy of education. I have had grave difficulty realizing what my philosophy is. It has truly been a challenge. I find it difficult to pin point my philosophy of education because i want to teach choir. This chapter did help me to figure out and understand a little more about my personal philosophy, but im still trying to figure it out. The book says that a philosophy is my personal core values and beliefs concerning education. I haven't quite figured that out yet.
Chapter 1
This chapter focuses on how to be a good teacher and how to intertpret your knowleged in such a way that your students can understand. The first part of the chapter is really what hit me the most i guess you could say. when the book was talking about what to teach, how to teach it etc., i all of the sudden got really nerves because i feel incompetent in my knowlege that i have accrued thus far. But im a music major so my lessons dont have to be as "planned" I guess you could say compared to that of a history or science teacher. there is such a vast amount of information in this chapter that its hard to pin point, but another thing that caught my eye was the efective practices that prompt learning section. I learned alot and i really want to be able to communicate effectively with my students and have a positive classroom setting.
